Reefcare Report: Planting 20 Tube Stock

Morning Tea!

The day started rather cold and some wind, but the morning changed to a lovely calm warm and sunny clime, perfect for working around beautiful Long Reef.  There was lots of exciting wildlife spotting including a whale, mother seal and baby, lots of Eastern Ospreys, Welcome Swallows, Magpies and a wonderful long display of a white bellied sea eagle chasing an Eastern Osprey.

Julie, Mahi and Katrina targeted asparagus fern, before morning tea, whilst Merrilyn, Brad, Lisa and Karina planted around 20 tube stock, some on the western slope and some over near the gully area.

After delicious caramel cake brought by Mahi for morning tea, Karina had to leave us, whilst Brad continued working over near the gully removing Bitou whilst Lisa and Merrilyn targeted Burr medic in the eastern dunes – good time to get this weed, as most was not seeding so we could leave on site, and not have to bag and drag up to the carpark afterward.
